ABSTRACT
Highly transparent antifogging/anti-icing coatings were developed from amphiphilic block copolymers of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-poly[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate]-block-poly(sulfobetaine methacrylate) (POSS-PDMAEMA-b-PSBMA) with a small amount ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) via UV-curing. The excellent antifogging properties the prepared originated hygroscopicity both PDMAEMA and PSBMA blocks in semi-interpenetrating polymer network (SIPN) polymerization EGDMA hydrophobic POSS clusters aggregated on surface. lower critical solution temperature an upper facilitated dispersion absorption water molecules into SIPN coatings, fulfilling enhanced function. Analysis differential scanning calorimetry further confirmed that there was bond nonfreezable coatings. exhibited anti-icing ability freezing delay time more than 2 min at -15 °C, owing to aggregation groups self-lubricating aqueous layer generated by could have novel potential applications practice.
