ABSTRACT
Sulfur dioxide (SO2) has long been considered a toxic environmental pollutant and byproduct of industrial processing. Recently it become evident that SO2 may also have regulatory functions in mammalian pulmonary systems. However, the study these effects proven to be challenging due difficulty administering reliable manner. In this work, we report discovery new pH-dependent water-soluble donor, benzothiazole sulfinate (BTS). We found BTS slow sustained release at physiological pH. Additionally, explored its vasorelaxation properties as compared authentic gas solutions. The should make useful tool for endogenously generated SO2.
