Electrically Driven White Light Emission from Intrinsic Metal–Organic Framework

ABSTRACT
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have drawn tremendous potential as a replacement of traditional lighting due to its low-power consumption and longer lifetime. Nowadays, the practical white LEDs (WLED) are contingent on photon down-conversion phosphors containing rare-earth elements, which limits utility, energy, cost efficiency. In order resolve energy crisis address environmental concerns, designing direct WLED is highly desirable remains challenging issue. To circumvent existing difficulties, in this report, we designed demonstrated consisting strontium-based metal-organic framework (MOF), {[Sr(ntca)(H2O)2]·H2O}n (1), graphene, inorganic semiconductors, can generate bright light emission. addition suitable design MOF structure, demonstration electrically driven emission based made possible by combination several factors including unique properties graphene appropriate band alignment between semiconductor layer. Because electroluminescence using an active material very rare intriguing also not commonly seen, our work here therefore represents major discovery should be useful timely for development solid-state lighting.
