ABSTRACT
The excitation of plasmonic nanoparticles by ultrashort laser pulses sets in motion a complex ultrafast relaxation process involving the gradual re-equilibration system's electron gas, lattice, and environment. One major hurdles studying these processes is lack direct measurements dynamic temperature evolution system subcomponents. We measured optical response ensembles Au following ultra-short-pulse excitation, we compared it with corresponding static as function increasing thermodynamic bath. Evaluating two data, fingerprints equilibrium or off-equilibrium responses could be clearly identified, allowing us to extract thermometric calibration scale process, yielding experimental particles time.
