ABSTRACT
Our growing ability to tailor healthcare the needs of individuals has potential transform clinical treatment. However, measurement multiple biomarkers inform decisions requires rapid, effective, and affordable diagnostics. Chronic diseases rapidly evolving pathogens in a larger population have also escalated need for improved diagnostic capabilities. Current chemical diagnostics are often performed centralized facilities still dependent on steps, molecular labeling, detailed analysis, causing result turnaround time be over hours days. Rapid kits based lateral flow devices can return results quickly but only capable detecting handful or markers. Herein, we present use disposable plasmonics with chiroptical nanostructures as platform low-cost, label-free optical biosensing multiplexing without systems required current biosensors. We showcase detection SARS-CoV-2 complex media well an assay Norovirus Zika virus early developmental milestone toward high-throughput, single-step differential diagnosis respiratory viruses any other emerging needs. Diagnostics this platform, which term "disposable assays," would suitable low-cost screening near-point-of-care setting.
