ABSTRACT
Pretreatment of corncobs using torrefaction was performed in a tubular reactor with varying reaction temperature (210, 240, 270, or 300 °C) and residence time (20, 40, 60 min). The torrefied were subsequently catalytically fast pyrolyzed over nanosized HZSM-5 semibatch pyroprobe reactor. characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analyzer coupled Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), FTIR. aromatic production online analyzed gas chromatography mass spectroscopy. effect severity on product distribution selectivity from catalytic pyrolysis investigated. experimental results show that can serve as an effective thermal pretreatment for improving the BTX (benzene, toluene, xylenes). Light mild (torrefaction at 210 240 has little impact yield. However, severe 270 lead to sharp increase coke yield reduction could be explained serious cross-linking charring corncob under conditions. optimal condition is 210–240 °C 40 min.
