ABSTRACT
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was used to pretreat corn stover in solid state at ambient temperature improve biodegradability and anaerobic biogas production. Four NaOH doses of 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% on dry matter basis were applied. The untreated NaOH-treated stovers then anaerobically digested four loading rates 35, 50, 65, 80 g L −1, respectively. the changes main compositions analyzed. results showed that 6% rate 65 −1 achieved 48.5% more production 71.0% bioenergy gain, as compared stover. Therefore, dose determined optimal parameters for pretreatment digestion, Under conditions, total solids (TS) volatile (VS) reductions based TS (B/TS d) increased by 23.6%, 56.3%, 20.1%, digestion time DT 90, defined reaching 90% production, shortened 24.1%. indicated remarkably improved made substrate available be resulted increase changed obviously. contents lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose decreased 4.3%−39.2%, but hot-water extractives 64.8%. Both had positive effects improvement. from this study proved one efficient methods enhance
