ABSTRACT
The optical properties of two-component nanorods (NRs) consisting Au and Ag blocks were investigated. overall the tailored by controlling block length. We observed two independent transverse modes in blocks. Depending on relative fraction blocks, intensity varied without noticeable peak shifts. However, strong intraparticle surface plasmon coupling between resulted collective appearance longitudinal LSP modes, including higher-order modes. This experimental observation suggests that free electrons oscillate a coherent fashion along long axis NRs, while there is no significant interaction electron oscillation short NRs.
