ABSTRACT
Porous liquids (PLs) are attractive materials because of their capability to combine the intrinsic porosity microporous solids and processability liquids. Most studies focus on synthesis PLs with not only high but also low viscosity by considering transportation in industrial plants. However, a gap exists between solid adsorbents for some practical cases, where liquid characteristics mechanical stability without leakage simultaneously required. Here, we fill this demonstrating new concept pore-networked gels, which solvent phase is trapped molecular networks accessible porosity. To achieve this, fabricate linked metal–organic polyhedra (MOPs) gel, followed exchanging bulky such as ionic (ILs); dimethylformamide inside as-synthesized gel replaced target IL, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, turn cannot enter MOP pores due larger size. The remaining volatile solvents cavities can then be removed thermal activation, endowing obtained IL (Gel_IL) microporosity. CO2 capacities gels greatly enhanced compared neat IL. exchange exerts positive influence final performances properties volatility. Besides ILs, various functional shown amenable strategy porosity, potential use field gas adsorption or separation.
