ABSTRACT
Proanthocyanidin oligomers with different degrees of polymerization were isolated from Saskatoon berries (Amelanchier alnifolia) by means gel adsorption and normal-phase liquid chromatography. The proanthocyanidins identified using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, thiolytic degradation coupled reversed-phase results established that contain dimers through heptamers higher polymers. are essentially procyanidin type, consisting mainly epicatechin units linked B-type bonds. simple profile allowed the procyanidins to be separated precisely according their polymerization. In future they can used as standard compounds for qualitative quantitative analysis well elucidation biological activities proanthocyanidins.
