ABSTRACT
We report the synthesis and characterization of highly luminescent colloidal nanocrystals consisting CdSe cores protected with double inorganic shells (core−shell−shell nanocrystals). The outer ZnS shell provides efficient confinement electron hole wave functions inside nanocrystal as well high photochemical stability. Introducing middle (CdS or ZnSe) sandwiched between core allows considerable reducing strain because CdS ZnSe have lattice parameter intermediate to those ZnS. In contrast CdSe/ZnS core−shells, in core−shell−shell grows nearly defect free. Due quality shell, exhibit PL efficiency photostability exceeding nanocrystals.
