ABSTRACT
The temperature and enthalpy vs composition phase diagrams of the binary systems [xC(2)H(5)CO(2)Li + (1 - x)C(2)H(5)CO(2)Tl], [x(n-C(4)H(9)CO(2)Li) x)n-C(4)H(9)CO(2)Tl], where x is mole fraction, were determined by DSC. Both display formation one 2:1 mixed salt each (at = 0.667) that appear as a peritectic (incongruent melting) at T(fus) 512.0 K, 461.1 with Delta(fus)H(m) 13.76 8.08 kJ.mol(-1) for Li-Tl (I) propanoates, n-pentanoate salts, respectively. thermotropic liquid crystal thallium(I) transforms into more stable liquid-crystal phase, which appears in diagram between 380 488 K 0 up to 0.56. structure propanoate two salts obtained via X-ray synchrotron radiation diffraction measurements. These compounds present bilayered similar pure lithium previously found our group.
