ABSTRACT
We report a method to synthesize tubular graphene structures by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on Ni nanowire templates, using ethylene as precursor at growth temperature of around 750 °C. Unlike carbon nanotubes that are synthesized via conventional routes, the number layers is determined time and independent tube diameter length, which follow those template. This allows us realize large-diameter tubes with shells comprising few or many desired. Thin observed be highly crystalline, uniform thickness throughout length nanowire. Raman analysis shows presence small level defects typical CVD-grown graphene. The metallic core could removed etching result in collapsed tube. Backgated field-effect transistor measurements were conducted approach realization offers new opportunities for graphene-based nanodevices.
