ABSTRACT
Complications involving the portal vein or vena cava, are rare after orthotopic liver transplantation. We report on incidence and treatment of venous complications following 1000 transplantations in 911 patients. Twenty‐six adult patients (2.7%) suffered from transplantation, whereas cava were observed only 17 (1.8%). Technical problems recurrence underlying disease (e.g. Budd–Chiari syndrome) accounted for majority alteration vessel wall splenectomy during transplantation could be identified as important risk factors complications. In undergoing modification standard end‐to‐end veno‐venous anastomosis due to pathological changes wall, occurred 8.3%, 2.4% who received a experienced vein. Furthermore, was also associated with an increased (10.5 vs. 2.2% without splenectomy). Treatment dependent signs symptoms patients, varied considerably between suffering cava. led retransplantation about one‐third occlusion vein, necessary 15%, more than half did not require any at all. Usually, became when additional such arterial bile duct injuries occurred.
