ABSTRACT
Abstract: Background/Methods: In order to evaluate the progression of liver fibrosis associated with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, two biopsy specimens obtained prior antiviral therapy from 98 patients HCV were scored and evaluated using statistical methods appropriate for ordered categorical data. Results/conclusions: Greater was seen increasing time between biopsies. Likewise, change in score significantly more pronounced 11 whose first within year after acquiring HCV. A multivariate logistic regression analysis possible explanatory factors outcome showed that interface hepatitis both biopsies, interval age at score. addition we found higher infection development cirrhosis, moderate intake alcohol progression, an inflammatory response form not necessarily greater if second mild hepatitis. However, having later course as reflected by may be detrimental. If early disease is followed less there fibrosis; persists, eventually.
