ABSTRACT
College student suicide prevention efforts are important to campus administrators and mental health professionals due increasing concerns about managing suicidal students. This article describes the development preliminary effectiveness of a program designed for American Indian (AI) students who at higher risk compared with general population. Using medicine wheel as guiding framework, current model integrates communication links between AI tribes staff, educational cultural programming, spiritual ceremonies larger resources available A discussion barriers faced solutions generated implementing is offered, along suggestions disseminating this AI-specific other universities.
