ABSTRACT
Many antibiotics in clinical use target the bacterial ribosome by interfering with protein synthesis machinery. However, targeting human case of deregulations such as highly proliferating cancer cells has not been investigated at molecular level up to now. Here we report structure 80S a eukaryote-specific antibiotic and show its anti-proliferative effect on several cell lines. The provides insights into detailed interactions ligand-binding pocket that are required for structure-assisted drug design. Furthermore, dose response leukaemic interference c-myc mcl-1 short-lived markers reveals specificity series towards cytosolic rather than mitochondrial ribosomes, uncovering promising target.
