ABSTRACT
Abstract Even though cell death modalities elicited by anticancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been extensively studied, the ability of treatments to induce non-cell-autonomous has never investigated. By means multispectral imaging flow-cytometry-based technology, we analyzed lethal fate cancer cells that were treated with conventional agents co-cultured untreated cells, observing can simultaneously trigger cell-autonomous in cells. After ionizing radiation, oxaliplatin, or cisplatin treatment, fractions populations eliminated through mechanisms, while other engulfed killed neighboring processes, including cellular cannibalism. Under conditions treatment paclitaxel, both detected population, exhibited features apoptotic demise. The transcriptional activity p53 tumor-suppressor protein contributed execution death, yet failed affect cannibalism for majority tested agents, indicating induction occur under which was impaired. Altogether, these results reveal highlighting heterogeneity responses unsuspected potential contribution global effects treatment.
