ABSTRACT
Abstract Ion transport and hydrodynamic flow through nanometer-sized channels (nanopores) have been increasingly studied owing to not only the fundamental interest in abundance of novel phenomena that has observed but also their promising application innovative nanodevices, including next-generation sequencers, nanopower generators, memristive synapses. We first review various kinds materials associated state-of-the-art processes developed for fabricating nanoscale pores, emerging structures DNA origami 2-dimensional nanopores. Then, unique are examined wherein surface properties wall play predominant roles inducing intriguing characteristics, such as ion selectivity reverse electrodialysis. Finally, we highlight recent progress potential nanopores, ranging from use biosensors nanopore-based artificial
