ABSTRACT
Detecting the micrometastasis is a major challenge in patients' survival. The small volume of biopsied tissue results limited number histopathological samples and might reduce rate accurate diagnosis even by molecular technologies. We introduce microelectronic biochip (named Metas-Chip) to detect unprocessed liquid or solid samples. It works based on tendency malignant cells track single human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC)-sensing traps. Such detach themselves from sample invade sensing traps inducing membrane retraction blebbing, which result sharp changes electrical response elements. Metas-Chip identified metastasis more than 70 breast cancer patients, less 5 h. Moreover it detected lymph nodes nine patients whom were missed conventional pathological procedure. Multilevel IHC real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests confirmed diagnosis.
