ABSTRACT
Abstract Wheat stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici ( Pst ), is a global threat to wheat production. Aegilops tauschii , one of the progenitors, carries YrAS2388 locus for resistance on chromosome 4DS. We reveal that encodes typical nucleotide oligomerization domain-like receptor (NLR). The -resistant allele YrAS2388R has duplicated 3’ untranslated regions and characterized alternative splicing in nucleotide-binding domain. Mutation disrupts its synthetic hexaploid wheat; transgenic plants with show eleven races common race P . hordei barley. occurs only Ae. -derived it absent 100% n = 461) lines tested. cloning will facilitate breeding rust other Triticeae species.
