Effectiveness of BBIBP-CorV vaccine against severe outcomes of COVID-19 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

ABSTRACT
Abstract The effectiveness of the inactivated BBIBP-CorV vaccine against severe COVID-19 outcomes (hospitalization, critical care admission and death due to COVID-19) its long-term have not been well characterized among general population. We conducted a retrospective cohort study using electronic health records 3,147,869 adults, which 1,099,886 vaccinated individuals were matched, in 1:1 ratio unvaccinated persons. A Cox-proportional hazard model with time varying coefficients was used assess adjusting for age, sex, comorbidity, ethnicity, calendar month entry into study. Our analysis showed that 79.6% (95% CI, 77.7 81.3) hospitalization, 86% 82.2 89.0) admission, 84.1% 70.8 91.3) COVID-19. these declined over indicating need booster doses increase protection outcomes.
