ABSTRACT
Fast-charging is considered as one of the most desired features needed for lithium-ion batteries to accelerate mainstream adoption electric vehicles. However, current battery charging protocols mainly consist conservative rate steps avoid potential hazardous lithium plating and its associated parasitic reactions. A highly sensitive onboard detection method could enable fast-charging without reaching regime. Here, we demonstrate a novel differential pressure sensing precisely detect event. By measuring real-time change cell per unit charge (dP/dQ) comparing it with threshold defined by maximum dP/dQ during intercalation into negative electrode, onset before extensive growth can be detected high precision. In addition, show that integrating this management system (BMS), dynamic self-regulated protocol realized effectively extinguish triggered low temperature (0 °C) while conventional static leads catastrophic at same condition. We propose serve an early nondestructive diagnosis guide development technologies.
