ABSTRACT
Abstract Blood orange (BO) is a rare red-fleshed sweet (SWO) with high anthocyanin content and associated numerous health-related benefits. Here, we reported high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly for Neixiu (NX) BO, reaching 336.63 Mb in length contig scaffold N50 values of 30.6 Mb. Furthermore, 96% the assembled sequences were successfully anchored to 9 pseudo-chromosomes. The also revealed presence 37.87% transposon elements 7.64% tandem repeats, annotation 30,395 protein-coding genes. A level synteny was observed between BO SWO, further supporting their genetic similarity. speciation event that gave rise Citrus species predated duplication found within them. genome-wide variation NX SWO compared. This first will serve as fundamental basis future studies on functional genomics evolution.
