ABSTRACT
18β-Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) is the active ingredient of traditional Chinese medicine, Glycyrrhrzae Radix et Rhizoma. Here, we explored effects GA on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in vitro and vivo underlying molecular mechanisms. We confirmed that suppressed proliferation various HCC cell lines. Treatment caused G0/G1 arrest, apoptosis autophagy cells. GA-induced were mainly due to unfolded protein response. compared roles ATF4/CHOP IRE1α/XBP1s UPR pathways, which both induced by GA. The cascade was indispensable for induction GA-treated In contrast, protected cells from Despite this, activation concluded pharmacological inhibition or IRE1α may be benefit enhance antitumor activity
