ABSTRACT
Abstract In previous RENEB interlaboratory comparisons based on the manual scoring of dicentric chromosomes, a tendency for systematic overestimation doses > 2.5 Gy was found. However, these exercises included only very few in high dose range, and they were heterogeneous terms radiation quality evaluation mode, comparable to limited extent. Here, this presumed deviation explored by investigating three Gy. Blood samples irradiated (2.56, 3.41 4.54 Gy) using 60 Co source sent 14 member laboratories network, which performed chromosome assay (manual and/or semi-automatic scoring) reported estimates. Most participants provided estimates that agreed well with physical reference all correct clinical category (> 2 Gy). The previously observed bias across not confirmed. tendencies underestimation detected estimations given absorbed blood some participants, laboratory-specific trend under- or observed. importance regularly checks broad range became obvious avoid misinterpretation results.
