ABSTRACT
Ever since the discovery of role bacteriophytochrome (BphP) in inducing carotenoid synthesis Deinococcus radiodurans response to light BphPs other non-photosynthetic bacteria is not clear yet. Azospirillum brasilense, a rhizobacterium, harbours pair out which AbBphP1 homolog AtBphP1 Agrobacterium tumefaciens. By overexpression, purification, biochemical and spectral characterization we have shown that photochromic bacteriophytochrome. Phenotypic study ΔAbBphP1 mutant showed it required for survival A. brasilense on minimal medium under red light. The also reduced chemotaxis towards dicarboxylates increased sensitivity photooxidative stress. Unlike D. radiodurans, was involved controlling synthesis. Proteome analysis indicated cellular enables regenerating proteins might be damaged due photodynamic
