ABSTRACT
Bulk metallic glasses exhibit high strength and large elastic strain limit but have no tensile ductility. However, bulk glass composites reinforced by in-situ dendrites possess significantly improved toughness at the expense of limit. Here, we report a composite with strong strain-hardening capability It was found that, plastic predeformation, can both under tension. These unique mechanical properties are attributed to reversible B2↔B19' phase transformation plastic-predeformation-induced complicated stress state in matrix second phase. findings significant for design application excellent properties.
