ABSTRACT
Abstract Extracellular matrix synthesis and remodelling are driven by increased activity of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1). In tendon tissue repair, TGF-β1 leads to progressive fibrosis. Decorin (DCN) interleukin 10 (IL-10) antagonise pathological collagen exerting a neutralising effect via downregulation TGF-β1. Herein, we report that the delivery DCN IL-10 transgenes from hydrogel system supresses constitutive expression range pro-fibrotic extracellular genes.
