ABSTRACT
Abstract In this paper, we have modeled and analyzed affinities kinetics of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) adsorption (and desorption) on various surface chemical groups using multiple self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) functionalized film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) array. The high-frequency micro-scale provides improved sensitivity in the detections VOCs at trace levels. With study kinetics, three concentration-independent intrinsic parameters (monolayer capacity, energy constant desorption rate) gas-surface interactions are obtained to contribute a multi-parameter fingerprint library VOC analytes. Effects functional group’s properties also discussed. proposed sensor array with shows potential as portable electronic nose (e-nose) system for discrimination gas-sensitive materials selections.
