ABSTRACT
Fatty acids play essential roles in the growth and metastasis of cancer cells. To facilitate their avid proliferation, cells not only alter fatty acid synthesis metabolism intracellularly extracellularly, but also macroenvironment via direct or indirect pathways. We report here, using Raman micro-spectroscopy, that an increase production polyunsaturated (PUFAs) was identified both cancerous normal appearing breast tissue obtained from patients tumor-bearing rats. By minimizing confounding effects mixed chemicals optimizing signal-to-noise ratio spectra, we observed a large-scale transition monounsaturated to PUFAs tumor while small subset transitioned micro- macroenvironment. These data have important implications for further clarifying macroenvironmental effect progression provide new potential approaches characterizing pre-clinical animal studies clinical applications.
