ABSTRACT
Abstract In pursuit of lightweighting automobiles and low emission transportation, the efforts to develop high-strength, heat-resistant fatigue-resistant Al alloys and/or composites have been ongoing. Here we report a novel matrix composite with ultrahigh strength reinforced by three dimensional network nano-AlN particles for first time. The in-situ synthesized AlN are connected twinning bonding chains built up strengthening enormously like skeleton human body. containing 16.4wt.% shows excellent properties: ultimate tensile strengths can be 518MPa at room temperature 190MPa 350 °C. This peculiar performance results from spatial distribution nano-scale particles. Our findings in this work would help potential candidate high-performance heat resistance light-metal based materials.
