ABSTRACT
Abstract To investigate the physiological responses of plants to high root-zone temperature (HT, 35 °C) stress mitigated by exogenous glutathione (GSH), cucumber ( Cucumis sativus L.) seedlings were exposed HT with or without GSH treatment for 4 days and following recovery. Plant variables, growth, gene expression related antioxidant enzymes Calvin cycle quantified. The results showed that significantly decreased content, ratio reduced oxidized (GSH/GSSG), chlorophyll photosynthesis expression, shoot height, stem diameter, as well dry weight. clearly lessened increasing above variables. Meanwhile, increased soluble protein proline malondialdehyde (MDA) content O 2 • − production rate, activities enzymes. remarkably improved activities, MDA rate compared no in condition. Our suggest enhances seedling tolerance modulating photosynthesis, osmolytes systems improve adaptation.
