ABSTRACT
We report a methodology developed to detect and track stable fluorescent-labeled nanoclay, in polymer-clay nanocomposite films, contact solvent after migration testing. Fluorescein-5-maleimide (fluorescein) or tetramethylrhodamine-5-maleimide (rhodamine) was covalently bonded organically modified montmorillonite (o-MMT). Fluorescein- rhodamine-labeled nanoclay showed good thermal stability up 220 °C the remained at 250 °C. Confocal laser scanning microscopy used confirm tagging nanoclays various systems.
