ABSTRACT
A novel portable SO2 gas sensor based on ionic liquid (IL) mediated electrochemiluminescence (ECL) for detecting at the ppb levels has been developed. The sensing system detection is strong quenching effect of ECL tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)32+)/O2 coreactant in IL film. Over potential window between −1.0 and +1.3 V, O2 can act as an effective Ru(bpy)32+ ILs, giving a bright emission. Ru(bpy)32+/O2 be strongly inhibited by through direct excited state luminophore, i.e. Ru(bpy)32+*, molecules. intensity proportional to concentration range from 40 2000 with limit 20 ppb. proposed operated room temperature shows high selectivity, good reproducibility long-term stability dry atmosphere.
