ABSTRACT
A simple solvothermal strategy has been developed to synthesize highly stable, pure phased CoO and Co3O4 nanoparticles from Co(CH3COO)2·4H2O precursor in ethanol solvent at 220 °C. The various phases of cobalt oxide (cubic Co3O4) with controlled size morphologies viz, nanocubes, hexagonal platelets nanospheres could be obtained via varying only one parameter (either surfactant or reaction time) this single synthesis method. XRD HRTEM analyses revealed cubic phase nanoparticles. formation shapes are dependent, whereas the time dependent. optical absorbance studies showed two distinct broad absorption peaks hence band gaps for both a wide gap difference 2.36 eV, while were found semiconducting nature 0.6 eV–1 eV difference, which characteristic features nanoparticles, respectively. interesting magnetic behaviour due intrinsic antiferromagnetic structure uncompensated surface spins, was confirmed by VSM EPR studies.
