The first asymmetric total synthesis of lycoposerramine-R, a Lycopodium alkaloid possessing novel skeleton, was accomplished by strategy featuring the stereoselective intramolecular aldol cyclization giving cis-fused 5/6 bicyclic skeleton and new method for construction pyridone ring via aza-Wittig reaction.
