ABSTRACT
Ag@CeO2 core–shell nanospheres were synthesized by a facile one-step solvothermal route from Ce(NO3)3·6H2O, AgNO3, poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP), and ethanol. The structure, composition, BET specific surface area optical properties of characterized X-ray diffraction, photoelectron spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm analysis, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Field scanning, microscopy spectroscopy etching results the as-synthesized revealed that consist Ag core CeO2 shell. catalytic demonstrated possessed higher activity than pure (which was similar method) in reduction 4-nitrophenol. Their enhanced is found to be due unique oxidized species induced strong interaction between defects (oxygen vacancies) herein proposed are promising candidates for p-nitrophenol because their simple preparation activity.
