Small organic non-viral gene vectors with the structural combinations of (aliphatic chain)–naphthalimide–[12]aneN₃ (<bold>11a</bold>, <bold>b</bold>) and naphthalimide–(aliphatic chain)–[12]aneN₃ (<bold>12a–c</bold>) were synthesized fully characterized.
