ABSTRACT
In this paper, a novel photocatalyst with visible light harvesting and spatial charge separation is reported, in which cobalt oxide (acting as hole trap) molybdenum sulfide an electron are assembled on the surface of cadmium nanorods. The MoSx/CdS/Co3O4 composite shows high H2 evolution yield 537.51 μmol 5 h, 35.53 times greater than over pristine CdS (15.13 μmol). detailed underlying reason was comprehensively studied understood by means SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, UV-vis DRS, BET; particular, investigation their photoelectrochemical properties photocurrent, voltammetric scanning, fluorescence spectra etc. photocurrent response, lower overpotential (-0.37 V vs. SCE), faster transfer rate constant (ket = 4.23 × 109 s-1) short lifetime (0.457 ns) supported efficient between MoSx well Co3O4. simultaneous loading bicocatalysts can significantly improve photo-induced because nanoparticles act trap to rapidly electrons from while Co3O4 acts quickly holes, enhancing its photocatalytic performance well.
