ABSTRACT
In this study, the Nelumbo nucifera leaf polysaccharide (NNLP) was isolated by hot water extraction and ethanol precipitation. DEAE anion exchange chromatography gel filtration were further performed to obtained purified fraction NNLP-I-I, molecular weight of which 16.4 kDa. The monosaccharide composition analysis linkage units determination showed that NNLP-I-I a pectic polysaccharide. addition, NMR spectra revealed mainly consisted homogalacturonan backbone rhamnogalacturonan I, containing long HG region short RG-I region, with AG-II 1-3 linked rhamnose as side chains. biological studies demonstrated displayed antioxidant properties through mediating Nrf2-regulated intestinal cellular defense, could protect cultured cells from oxidative stress improve function aged mice.
