Zwitterionic nano-silica (SiO<sub>2</sub> NPs) obtained by lysine surface modification was used as a hydrophilic inorganic filler for preparing poly(aryl ether nitrile) (PEN) nanocomposite membrane <italic>via</italic> an immersion precipitation phase inversion method.
