A rapid procedure for measuring the specific radioactivity of phenylalanine in tissues was developed. This facilitates accurate determination rates protein synthesis a wide range by injection 150 mumol L-[4-(3)H]phenylalanine/100 g body wt. The large dose amino acid results rise free to values close that plasma, followed slow but linear fall. enables rate be calculated from measurements and protein-bound during 10 min period after radioisotope.
