ABSTRACT
CaThi is a thionin-like peptide isolated from fruits of Capsicum annuum, which has strong antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeasts and filamentous fungi, induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) in fungi. ROS are molecules that appear the early stages programmed cell death or apoptosis Due to this fact, work we analyzed some events may be related process on yeast by CaThi. To investigate possibility, evaluated phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization, presence active caspases ability bind DNA Candida tropicalis cells. Additionally, investigated mitochondrial membrane potential, surface pH, extracellular H+ fluxes C. cells after treatment with Our results showed PS externalization outer leaflet membrane, activation caspases, it had for binding dissipate potential. In addition, pH increased significantly when were exposed corroborates ~96% inhibition efflux. Taking together, these data suggest capable promoting an imbalance homeostasis during playing modulatory role transport systems. conclusion, our strongly indicated triggers cells, involving signaling mechanism.
