ABSTRACT
Purpose Long-term outcomes of sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) are poorly studied. The recurrence rate is heterogeneous, and the prognosis relapses uncertain. aim this retrospective study was to evaluate SSNHL analyze correlation with clinical audiometric characteristics. Method Seventy-three patients idiopatic were evaluated. Clinical features recorded. Seventy (95.8%) had at least a 2-year follow-up, whereas 50 (68.4%) 5-year follow-up. Results Two- rates 5.60% 10.34%, respectively. Mean time lapse between 1st episode 29.33 ± 26.60 months. About 70% partial recovery recurrence. same ear affected in 42.8% patients, contralateral bilateral 14.4% cases. Recurrence correlated only presence tinnitus during However, small number participants represented limiting factor our study. Conclusions Recurrences rare events that can involve ipsilateral or ear. Further studies necessary identify predictors
