ABSTRACT
The proportion of alpha-linolenic acid (18:3) among the total fatty acids in root tissue increases as growth temperature decreases. Endoplasmic reticulum omega-3 desaturase is responsible for production most 18:3 tissue. In this study, effect on expression TaFAD3 gene, which encodes endoplasmic wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Chihoku), was analysed at mRNA and protein levels. tips grown 30 10 degrees C, proportions were 22% 55%, respectively. level microsomal preparations C approximately 7.5 times higher than that C. increased lower accompanied by enhanced association with polyribosomes. contrast, slightly those These results suggest that, tips, increase low achieved directly an amount protein, temperature-dependent translational regulation rather its transcriptional regulation, contributes to modulation accumulation.
