ABSTRACT
SUMMARY 1. The aim of the present study was to analyse possible lack uniformity in isoproterenol (ISO)‐induced myocardial hypertrophy. 2. Data obtained for isovolumic hearts isolated from 20 rats treated with ISO (0.3 mg/kg over 8 days) were divided into two groups (H 1 , n = 10; H 2 10) according volume (mean±SD) needed change left ventricle diastolic pressure 0 40 mmHg 184±30 μL; 108±14 μL). Eight control (C; 165±37 μL) used comparison. 3. In addition ventricular distensibility differences, differed terms mass (mean±SEM: 181±3 mg > 166±3 C, 136±3 mg; P < 0.001), relaxation constant 43±4 msec 28±2 msec; 0.0012) and maximum developed circumferential stress (C, 145±9 kdyn/cm 137±6 110±4 ; 0.002). 4. Our results show that ISO‐induced hypertrophy is not homogeneous. taken as a whole compared (smaller impairment relaxation, elastic stiffness force generation), suggest that, some animals, necrosis reparative fibrosis may prevail stimulus myocyte growth. has been previously reported have contributed divergence observed literature regarding functional characteristics model.
