ABSTRACT
Abstract: This study was designed to investigate the possible involvement of members nuclear receptor family transcription factors in effects antipsychotic drugs used treatment schizophrenia. We have identified, using RT‐PCR screening, an important modulation nerve growth factor‐inducible B (NGFI‐B) mRNA levels by typical and atypical neuroleptics rat forebrain. NGFI‐B, a member family, can be observed target structures dopaminergic pathways. Using situ hybridization, we also demonstrate that antipsychotics induced contrasting patterns expression NGFI‐B after both acute chronic administration. An with clozapine or haloperidol induces high prefrontal cingulate cortices nucleus accumbens shell. However, haloperidol, but not clozapine, dramatically increases dorsolateral striatum. In contrast, reduces below basal forebrain, whereas still Finally, double hybridization technique, show administration neurotensin‐containing neurons shell, striatum are mainly enkephalin‐containing neurons. These results first demonstration could play role drugs.
