ABSTRACT
Abstract Growth performance of nine native tropical tree species planted on mine spoil under two levels NPK treatment was studied by measuring height and diameter. Of the species, four were leguminous. All responded positively to fertilization; however, impact leguminous little compared non‐leguminous species. In general, height/diameter ratio decreased from control full‐dose treatment, suggesting that nutrient enrichment influenced resource allocation pattern such diameter growth favored. The log‐transformed height‐diameter relationships significant for three treatments in all slopes ( β ) obtained with different models (i.e., elastic similarity, geometric constant stress). Acacia catechu , Dalbergia sissoo Gmelina arborea Azadirachta indica fitted similarity model, whereas Pongamia pinnata Phyllanthus emblica followed stress model. Tectona grandis only Albizia lebbeck Terminalia bellirica values considerably lower below 0.5) these did not fit any growth. several cases enrichment.
