ABSTRACT
A large body of research is currently being conducted into superconducting power system applications, targeting improved efficiency and reductions in size weight. In order to attain the required levels safety reliability system, effective protection systems, tailored specific fault behaviour novel components must also be place. This paper presents a review relevant literature concerning dynamic transient characteristics DC networks key associated (such as cables machines). This first part two stage Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) presented, which provides conceptual consideration expected physical failure modes mechanisms. The effects on wider network are discussed from various considerations drawn.A number questions drawn this study, will form starting point second FMEA.The outputs FMEA shape requirements for network.
